Load support on weak subgrade soils
When a geocell is placed on top of weak soils the cells confine the soil over a large area because of their structure instead of one area. Whereby, when subjected to an external weight like vehicles or building structures it prevents the movement of the soil particles in other directions.
Durable infrastructure
Using geocell on roads, and railways tends to last longer due to the soil stability whereby the confined soil can withstand harsh environmental conditions. This also makes repair and replacements less expensive.
Reduced soil erosion
On flat surfaces like roads, geocells are used to stabilize the soil and vegetation growth by creating a barrier that confines soil particles preventing soil erosion caused by water waves or wind. Reducing soil erosion and also maintaining shore slopes and riverbank stability.
Protection of water channels
Water channels are protected by geocell whereby when put along river channels, they prevent soil particles from being washed away. With the use of materials such as stone aggregate, they act as a protective barrier thus making water flow through the channel smoothly.
Environmental friendly
Geocells made from high-density polythene material do not require intense machinery use that can harm the environment.
In addition, the environment is conserved by retaining its natural beauty whereby the geocells eliminate the use of concrete and other heavy materials on the soil.
Simple and quick construction
Geocells are very easy to install and require minimal effort and machine use since they are lightweight and easy to handle.
They can be used in different terrains and weather conditions allowing them to be installed in challenging environments. This makes them ideal for projects that have close deadlines.
Steep stabilization surfaces
If you want to protect steep slopes from soil erosion, then Geocell offers a perfect solution. Usually, they are designed to hold soil particles together. Therefore, you can use them to stabilize slopes.
Aesthetic pleasing
These cells facilitate vegetation growth promoting ecological restoration to destroyed areas by being introduced to natural surroundings.
Increased Soil Confinement
Using geocells improves soil strength and stability whereby they prevent soil dispersion maintaining the soil good condition especially when put in areas that are slopy. In addition, when soil is properly confined chances of soil erosion to occur are minimal since it can’t be washed away by heavy rains or water.
Versatility
Geocells can be used in different applications such as road construction slope stabilization erosion control retaining walls and are available in different sizes and colors to fit specific requirements offering flexible customization in design.
Landscape architecture
Protecting plants and soil against erosion in landscape architecture entails the use of specialist technologies such as geocells. Geocell grids will reduce undesired runoff or groundwater flow while also preventing the construction of erosion channels that endanger the landscape. Other advantages include the preservation of riverbeds and tree roots, the stabilization of ground, soil, and channel walls, and the prevention of erosion in greenbelts, slopes, and vegetation.
Road construction
About four-fifths of the world's roads are unpaved gravel access roads. These roads are frequently built over shaky ground, such as vast clay, peat bogs, or sand. These materials will disintegrate if correct technology is not in place, threatening the safety, stability, and lifespan of the highways. Geocells offer the rigidity and creep resistance required for soft soil road stabilization. They prevent the clay from shrinking and cracking, sandy soils from lateral dispersion and strain, and all soft soils from subgrade reinforcement.

Load platform
Geocells are an excellent method for constructing semi-rigid platforms over weak soils and in regions where digging is restricted. The load capacity of grade slabs, foundation spread, and strip footings is increased by using geocell grids. Cellular confinement systems may also be used to minimize pavement sections in laydown areas, parking lots, and highways.
Retaining wall, embankment, and levees reinforcement
Geocells are an excellent solution for erosion control on embankments and slopes. They also prevent water channelization, pond linings, or any other structure that needs to be installed safely in soil with high levels of risk due to natural factors such as slope stability problems.
Green roofs and walls
Geocells, with their expanded honeycomb construction that retains soil and enhances structural stability, make these places conceivable. Green walls are also popular in certain houses and companies, thanks to geocell grids.
What Are the Different Types of Geocells?
There are several different types of geocells available, each with its own unique properties and characteristics. The most common types are:
High-density polyethylene (HDPE): These are the most widely used type of geocell and are made from high-density polyethylene sheets that are welded together to form a honeycomb-like structure. HDPEs are flexible, durable, and resistant to weathering and chemical attack.
Polypropylene (PP): PP geocells are similar to HDPE,but are made from polypropylene sheets. They are lightweight, flexible, and have good chemical resistance.
Polyester (PET): PET geocells are made from polyester sheets and are used in applications where high-temperature stability and chemical resistance are required.
Textile: Textile geocells are made from woven or non-woven materials and are used in applications where flexibility and permeability are important. They are often used for erosion control and slope stabilization.
Geocells with geogrid reinforcement: Geocells can also be reinforced with geogrids, which are high-strength polymer grids that provide additional stability and strength. These reinforced geocells are used in applications where high loads or steep slopes are involved.
